Earlier this month, we partnered with Sydney’s highly lauded skincare and wellness destination FENN, to bring to life facial treatments fusing IKKARI’s skincare with FENN’s techniques. Inspired by a mutual respect for holistic beauty and vibrancy from within, this synergy was effortless. Read on to discover more about our partnership with FENN in conversation with Co-Founder Clare McColl, and how to experience the luxury of the facial treatment for yourself, at home. A step-by-step ritual for heavenly skin.
“Our partnership is grounded in a shared commitment to individualised care, education, and sustainability. IKKARI's minimal-interventionist approach and transparent ingredient choices complement our philosophy perfectly, allowing us to offer tailored experiences while empowering our clients with natural, effective solutions,” says Clare.
The treatment
Began with a bespoke double cleanse using Skin Saviour Balm and The Cream Cleanser to gently remove dirt and excess oil from skin. Under, the multitasking Skin Refining Enzyme Mask is applied, then removed with Sonophoresis to slough away dead skin cells, revealing a brighter and more clarified complexion.
Followed by FENN’s signature massage, using a custom blend of Skin Saviour Balm and an IKKARI Face Oil tailored to skin type. This specialised muscle-manipulation technique lifts and sculpts the face, reduces muscular tension and promotes circulation to encourage lymphatic drainage.
To finish, founders Clare and Nicole will hand select an IKKARI serum suitable to individual skin concerns, and layered with Daily Elemental Cream and Hydrating Mineral SPF to protect skin for the day ahead.
“Central to our approach is the use of avant-garde massage techniques, which have been a core aspect of FENN's philosophy since its inception. These techniques sculpt, tone, and promote radiant skin,” explains Clare.
“Incorporating your own facial massage at home can help improve blood circulation, lymphatic drainage, and muscle tone, which can contribute to a more radiant complexion and reduce puffiness. I usually do this when I'm initially cleansing my skin with a balm or oil cleanser to help relax the muscles at the end of the day. Using a Gua Sha and the Restorative Face Oil is a good combination,” she adds.
Five quick questions
Q: Which IKKARI products are currently in rotation?
A: “There are so many we’re loving. In particular, we both adore the new Ikarian Shower Oil, it's heaven. Clear Skin Cleansing Oil is beautiful. I've always been a big fan of an oil cleanser, and this one removes dirt and makeup, while still leaving my skin feeling refreshed. Also - I’m a big fan of Instant Hydrating Serum, having only tried this recently it’s already made such a big difference to the suppleness of my skin.”
Q: As we head into summer, what advice do you have for seasonal skincare?
A: “The first is to adjust your morning routine to include a potent blend of antioxidants, in the form of serums or gels. This is a must to prevent free radical damage caused by the sun and other external factors. Next, ensure you’re layering a low-molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid serum under other products. Low-molecular structures provide intense moisture and sustained hydration in the deeper layers of the skin. And lastly, a broad spectrum SPF must be worn at all times during the day. There are many SPF’s now that can be tailored to your individual skin type. It is of paramount importance you wear an SPF to protect and preserve your skin.”
Q: Which self-care rituals are you drawn to feel grounded?
A: “I’ve been doing acupuncture weekly now for three months and have loved the results. It's been a great experience as it's dedicated time to myself and my thoughts. I always leave feeling grounded and clear. I try to do it in the evenings so I can go home and get into bed early.”
Q: IKKARI philosophy is built on vitality and supporting you to live better for longer. What does vitality mean to you?
A: “Vitality is being content and happy. Spending time with loved ones who fill up your cup. Taking time where you can to rest and recharge. Vitality is a swim in the ocean and a cold shower. Living your life and enjoying the simple things.”
Q: When do you feel your highest self?
A: “Usually after I've gone for a big run. I really enjoy it, listening to great music, being in tune with your breath, and your step. I feel great. In the warmer months I'm straight in the ocean afterwards.”
